The Paper Vault: A Look at Privileged Access Management | Zero Trust User Group Meetup
Arlington, VA
October 17, 2019, 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM EDT

Privileged Access Management (PAM) is an essential part of a Zero Trust approach to the enterprise cybersecurity landscape. Enterprises count on these programs to improve their security posture, decrease risk, and meet demanding compliance requirements.

The Paper Vault looks at how to not how to not to find yourself focused on a PAM implementation so much that you forget the intent of the overall service, and accidentally introduce inherent trust (or allow identities to circumvent the process of even acquiring your trust).

In this meetup, we will:

  • Highlight the goals of a PAM program including PAM tools that provide runtime enforcement points
  • Address common issues and risks often encountered when rolling out a PAM tool
  • Discuss additional considerations for building a successful PAM program and closing gaps that can be compromised by an attacker

Boise Cloud Computing Meetup: Identity In A Zero Trust Architecture
Boise, ID
October 22, 2019, 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM MDT

Chris Mort, Sila Senior IAM Architect and Practice Lead, will be presenting on Identity in a Zero Trust Architecture:

As organizations are increasingly and consistently dealing with threats that are becoming more adaptive and intelligent, the traditional perimeters of defense are no longer a sufficient defense. This has led organizations to consider a new paradigm of trust that goes beyond relying only on network perimeters or least privilege, and default to a position that inherently limits trust. Come learn (and discuss) more about how identity governance, authentication, and centralized privileged access management are the essential core tenants in achieving a zero trust architecture.

The meetup will be held at the Bardenay Restaurant & Distillery where drinks and apps will be provided, along with the opportunity to learn and network with other Boise IAM professionals.

[Live Webinar] Privacy: Regulatory Pressure is the Consequence of a Broader Problem
November 14, 2019, 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM EDT

Many organizations are feeling the pressure to find privacy compliance solutions as an ever-increasing number of regulatory requirements are being introduced locally, nationally, and globally. In their attempts to demonstrate prompt compliance with multiple regulations, organizations could be speeding past their actual privacy problems. To avoid a “tail wagging the dog” situation with a compliance-driven approach, organizations should focus on examining why these privacy regulations are being introduced in the first place In this webinar, we will discuss common privacy problems facing organizations through examples with an emphasis on the privacy needs of customers over compliance checklists.

In this presentation, you will:

  • Understand the current state and drivers of organizational privacy programs
  • Identify areas of focus within privacy programs based on customer needs which drives compliance requirements
  • Lead discussions with the colleagues in support of a customer focused, need-based privacy program at their own organization
